    Hi all,

My 3 year old (but only used for 2 and 1/2) Indesit DISR 14B1 slimline integrated dishwasher failed yesterday. Whilst opening the door I heard a ‘bang’ which we usually associate with the fuseboard tripping in the adjacent room, which it had. I could have swore that I heard a sound from within the dishwasher itself however.

Switched the power back on, didn’t think anything else of it until the evening when it wouldn’t start.

I can switch it on, it beeps once as it usually does once the door has closed, but instead of beginning to whir it just sits there silently for 1 – 5 minutes before beeping continuously every 5 seconds. When I open it up the 4 display lights (for the settings) are all flashing in unison.

Infuriatingly I cannot find any clear guidance on what it means when all four lights are flashing together, and when I attempted to speak to Indesit customer service they just said it was a problem for an engineer and I needed to book one. I wouldn’t think it’s entirely unreasonable that I’m allowed to know what the flashing indicates before deciding to spend £130 on one of their engineers to possibly come out and tell me it’s not worth fixing.

    I have:

    – Checked the fuse.
    – Switched it off an on and the plug and left it out for half an hour (got some static discharge from the unplugged machine when I moved the plug a few minutes later)
    – Opened the front cover to look for loose wires and found that the magnetic catch wire for the tablet dispenser (which had stopped working two months before) was freely hanging; I fixed that.
    – Cleaned the filter and checked for debris and blockages.
    – Checked the water supply for blockages.

If it’s an electronics issue due to some kind of shortage or power surge then fine, but I’d really like to know what it’s trying to tell me before doing anything.

    Many thanks in advance,

the very fact it went bang could mean its serious

4 lights i think is a virtual sensor problem but the crux of the problem is what went pop and how much damage did it do
