    Hi,

I’ve been to look at a Samsung DV90M50003x/eu heat pump dryer. The blower fan is fouling on the outer plastic housing because a motor mounting has probably failed allowing the motor shaft to drop down and then the fan rubs on the housing. Problem is I just can’t gain access motor to see what’s the cause of the problem. I have removed all the screws on the rear of the R/H side panel and the one at the top front behind the fascia panel but just can’t get the side panel to pull away.
I don’t see any other possible fixing screws.
    Can anybody please help.
    Cheers.

had the same thing some time ago
never took it apart as i tried to get a new rubber mount and it seemd to be only available with the motor so gave up

yes fan had gone and rubbed through the plastic chamber as far as i could see to get it off was a major strip down

    Hi Dave,

    Thanks for the response.

Long gone are the days of dryer repairs being simple!

This appliance was very expensive and is only 2 years old.
It had the motor mount screws replaced whilst under warranty so it seems like it could be a weak point on these appliances.
Like what you say could be a major strip down and an uneconomic repair.

Samsung are a pain to work on and have well overpriced spares

had the girls at Qualtex on the motor mount to try to see if its was available on its own, and after all its just a rubber bush, but they could get no sense out of them at all. So we had to conclude it came with the motor and the customer scrapped the dryer

I’ve been in touch with the customer and because of the likely cost of the repair she’s resigned to the fact that the appliance will be scrapped.
So with her blessing I’m going to return and “rip” the appliance apart just to see how to gain access to the motor/pulley assy.
Then I’ll know for future reference.
    I’ll keep you posted.

    Cheers.

Update :- went back today and removed the front panel to gain access to screws that attach the R/H side panel
Removed the screws and eventually gained access to the motor.
Motor mountings intact but rear mounting has slipped out of position allowing the motor to drop.
The mounting rests on the plastic base but the ledge it rests on is very shallow so the mounting slips out.
Bad design I reckon it’s going to cause many problems on this range of dryers.
£600 dryer less than 2 years old and it’s going to be scrapped.
Advised customer to kick up a fuss with Samsung Customer Service.
