ParticipantHi all,
I have an Ikea Häftigt upright fridge freezer (integrated into a cupboard), its just over 5 years old. Recently the problem has come up where the freezer high temperature keeps being triggered, it registers as have been up to -11 (from -18). This might happen once a month, or 3 times in a day, it seems completely random.
First thing i did was defrost the freezer and start again, but the problem continues.
I then bought a freezer thermometer to verify that the temperature was actually high, and sure enough it was also registering up to -11.
I tried removing the integrated cupboard door in case it was causing the freezer to not close correctly – still no success.
I gave the door seal a good clean all round, but still the same. When the high temp alarm goes off, i can turn on “fast-freeze” mode, which seems to kick it back into shape and it heads back to -18. Apart from the alarm being a pain, i’m thinking it’s probably not good for us to eating food that’s being part defrosted then frozen again!
Anybody got any pointers as to what might be the issue here?
I’m never had a freezer issue before, so i’m not sure if this kind of thing can be serviced, or if it’s not cost effective to service being that it’s 5 years old?
Appreciate any info!
Cheers

KeymasterAnyone will need the full model sand probably product or service code to look see what it even is, the names and catalogue numbers Ikea uses is for sales only and is meaningless to service really.
It’s explained here:

ParticipantHi mate,
Thanks for the info…I went in search of that last night and got the following –
Model: Häftigt 202.823.67
PNC: 925 582 020
Serial: 43800009However when i googling it, i found a few different web pages (BBC, Which, Watchdog) saying that this specific model is a fire hazard! Apparently it has a plastic backing and non-flame retardant material.
So that seals the deal for me…think i’ll just go with replacement.
Cheers
