Have read through the forums which deal mostly with storing freezers/fridges in garages. I currently have a freezer sitting in my conservatory (hot in summer, cold in winter – but probably not freezing). Freezer has been there for 5/6 years and worked fine but the comprssor has gone now so want to replace freezer and wondered if there is any standard fridge/freezer (as opposed to freezer alone) that will withstand this environment?

That kind of answers your own question really, if it hadn’t been in that location it would more than likely have lasted a lot longer 😉
There are no fridge/freezers that will live happily in that enviroment I’m afraid. A freezer alone may well work as you have found but it’s life-span greatly reduced by the high summer temperatures.

Thanks for the prompt response – got problem a lot of people will have I guess, very limited space in kitchen so without major work to re-design it, I’m stuck with having to use the conservatory. 🙁

Yes, it is a problem in the UK and it will get worse as we purchase more and more large appliances, we have small kitchens by comparison to many other countries 🙁
Just a suggestion, the laundry products would be far happier in the conservatory, if they aren’t out there already, or a freezer (not a fridge/freezer) in the garage or shed (no direct sunlight/glass panels) will be OK on the whole.
