    Hello.

Apologies if not the correct forum but it seemed to be as close to it.

I am looking at these two models..

    https://ao.com/product/roh10a2tce-candy-rapido-heat-pump-tumble-dryer-white-76007-126.aspx
    Candy Rapido ROH10A2TCE
    £399

The price seems too good to be true. I cannot find the manual so no idea what the program times are like or programs themselves.

    https://ao.com/product/dxwh11a2dcexm-hoover-dynamic-next-heat-pump-tumble-dryer-white-62812-126.aspx
    Hoover Dynamic Next DXWH11A2DCEXM
    £599

1KG more than the Candy but £200 more. Is the extra justified?

The Hoover model has a variant which is £100 less but looks identical, are you just paying for a different firmware with more programs on it?

    Appreciate any advice/pointers.

    Thank you.

Hoover and Candy are the same company.

I’m sure you can likely work out the rest.

    Fair enough 😀

    Will up the budget then.

    What brands should be considered?

Zanussi and Whirlpool seem to be the most reliable at the moment 😉

To be honest, I’d not bother with a heat pump dryer as for most people it’s not worth the bother. Why is explained here:

In the near future there will be only heat pumps available so I am told by several manufacturers. It’s all to do with their A energy credentials!!

That article is over 5 years old, I understand the basics of the article are still valid but have things changed over the years?

Also, I understand why people dislike heat pumps but they are a much more sustainable alternative to having clothes on a radiator in the winter with all the problems that causes.

    Not really, no.

Other than as Don says manufacturers going down that road for energy use requirements. People will just be forced to accept it.

So balancing efficiency vs costs to run and general maintenance, is a Condensing or Vented dryer the best of pick?

I’d argue that was the case, yes.

Vented every time with no sensors. Mechanical timer, element, element and other bits, simples 🙂

Is it getting to the stage where “repairs” of these products are becoming too time consuming or just not financially viable?

For some, a bit of both. Depends what the problem is.
