After 12 years of very reliable service averaging 2 or 3 washes per week, my machine is having problems. I have downloaded the Asko service manual and read the forums to get some pointers, but struggling to diagnose the problem.

    It is an ISE10 / 1606W / WM25.3

The first indication of a problem was failing to finish a cycle. I tested several wash programmes, water fill operated, drain pump operated, drum rotated, but at some point in the cycle activity stopped, and numeric time display went blank.

I tried the reset and test sequence; L6 LED flashing, water valves opened and closed, then L6 and L1 flashing, ‘END’ in display. I believe this indicates “Level system/valve fault”. Pressing S1 had no effect, it didnt carry out the rest of the test sequence.

Then checked and cleaned pressure chamber and hose to pressure sensor and switch, also cleaned anti-syphon trap and drain pump. Removed a coin which had obviously been there quite a while, but otherwise everything was reasonably clean anyway (the water is very soft here, so limescale is not an issue). Fitted replacement pressure sensor and switch which made no difference. I can hear the pressure switch operate as the water level changes, however I have not yet checked voltages. Note these parts are used from an ebay seller who states they are removed from a working machine, so obviously a chance they too are faulty.

Reading that others have seen problems with the wiring loom, removed motor control board. Visual inspection all seems ok, wiring loom also seems ok. Removed and reseated connectors on main control board behind fascia. Tried running programmes – same issue of stopping before completion, but water fill, drum rotation, drain pump operated. Also tried moving wires/connector blocks on MCB and motor when there should be drum rotation in the programme to check for connection problems, but the drum didnt suddenly begin to turn.

Then 2 programmes were successful ‘Wool’ and ‘coloured cotton’. So tried test sequence to see if it would complete, but still LED L6 and L1 flashing + END. Still wouldn’t progress to next stage of test sequence. Then ran Rinse and Spin programmes successfully.

Checked the following day to see if still working, but no. Tried test programme – again water fill valves operate, but I’m not sure if normal wash level is being reached – water level about 1/2″ above bottom of drum. Is that too low, indicating still a problem with level system? Test sequence now stopped with only L6 flashing, doesnt progress to L6+L1 flashing + END as before.

Am I on the right track thinking of level system problem? Or should i be looking elsewhere?

Any guidance gratefully received, I would love to get this machine sorted as it should have lots of life in it still. Thanks

    Hi
No I didn’t identify the fault, but managed to buy an identical machine on Ebay which works fine, and kept the old one for spares.

Sorry I cannot be of more help, I hope you get sorted ok.

water level about 1/2″ above bottom of drum. Is that too low. Yes far too low. Should be the level switch faulty but also check the air trap chamber for gunge before buying anything and yes gunge in the air trap normally causes the opposite of over filling but worth checking first.
