Hi everyone. I’ve had this washing machine for 5 years and had it repaired twice in that time, and it’s now playing up again. We don’t use the dryer (it’s crap!) so apparently this means every six months or so the dryer corrodes and the machine stops working. It’s started playing up again so I’m assuming it’s the dryer issue again. I’ve read that disconnecting the dryer can work, and I’d like to try that. I can’t find any videos or step by step online, is this something a layman could try? If so can anyone point me to a step by step or if you can explain how to do it that would be great!

the dryer element is in the top of the machine Item 10 on diagram
there are 3 or 4 cables feeding it
these need to be disconnected and insulated and secured where they cant rub through

also take a pic and store it in case you need to put it back

Thank you Dave. I’ve tried to attach a picture but it won’t let me. I think it’s a bit beyond me without being shown exactly what cables to unplug 🙁

    to attach pic

host the pic on another site like google pics
    then post a public link

all the wires where the number 10 is on the element end need to be removed

2 I would say is correct
the other plug seems to have 2 wires going to it

trace all the wires back to the element

sorry to jump on this thread but dave any chance i can do this with my AEG or will it throw up error codes ? , i want to be able to stop people using the dryer settings by mistake as it gets dangerously hot ?

since AEG and Zanussi are essentially the same it should work no problems

you say its getting hot but it does have safety stats which will stop it overheating. they do get hotter than most people think

Cheers Dave gonna give this a whirl and see what happens , cause im talking scalding hot for dryer , as i said i gave up as i didnt want to risk a valve at 30 machine on a whim. Think ill just use for washing which is fine by me.
