SMEG FAB30PS5 about 12 years old, That’s the retro styled model with the small separate freezer on top of the fridge but 1 compressor and 1 thermostat.
Was working fine, been in store for a few months.
Powered it up, compressor comes on and freezer soon drops to normal -18ish temperature.
However fridge stays at room temperature, maybe even increases slightly.
Understand this model has auto defrost (well the manual says it does) and I’ve seen something like this before where a mechanical timer was stuck in defrost mode and a coil was actually heating the fridge.
Problem is I can’t find any sort of mechanical defrost timer on the fridge. I haven’t got a wiring diagram but it all looks very simple.
I’ve found the mechanical thermostat in the normal place by the fridge light but no timer in there?
And surely if it was a thermostat fault then the compressor wouldn’t be working for the freezer ?
Any ideas?
