How can I detach the side-positioned drum paddles from a Zanussi Aquacycle 1100 TLE 1116 W?
This machine is a top-loader, with the outside circumference of the drum easily accessible via the opened drum lid.
There are three plastic paddles. With the lid uppermost, the bottom paddle is fixed by four torx screws, and so presents no problems.
However, the two side paddles are more challenging: it looks as though one needs to depress what looks like a locking stud back into the drum, so as to be able to slide the paddle sideways and thus disengage its locking hooks. But the “locking stud” will not budge, however hard I press it.
Any ideas?checked manuals and they make no mention of removal techniques
why do they need to be removed ?

Hi Dave, thanks for such a speedy reply.
The paddles remain in perfect working order (after many years), but are getting pretty full of wash sludge – and the wife has asked that they be cleaned.
If it isn’t possible to remove the side paddles non-destructively, then I will look for a way of cleaning them in situ, such as by plugging their drum-facing holes and pouring into them a very hot cleaning mixture from the outside of the drum.

how many hot washes do you do ?
you should be doing 1 or 2 boil washes per month to help kill mould and bacteria etc
try putting machine on a hot wash you can always pause it and use the water in the machine as your rinse water as you try to clean the paddles
