KeymasterThe fan element on our Smeg oven has gone – literally exploded! Have looked at replacing it myself – current one seems to be secured by 2 x hex bolts, althought these seem to be a strange size (between 5mm & 6 mm) and are extremely shallow so can’t get a grop on them with any of my sockets. Assuming I can get the old one out, then need to order a new element, assuming it’s not stupidly expensive like what Smeg wanted for the pcb on dishwasher. Any advice appreciated!
Thanks.

The element is secured from the rear of the oven wall by nuts. The SMEG element required may well be in shop@ on the site. If you would post the model number of your appliance we would be able to check.
Power off if you plan to do this yourself………….. :plug:

Thanks for the help guys. Ordered the element & it arrived very promptly.
Install was easy, but when switched on heard a small pop & power went off, plus a little smoke. Double checked everything was connected ok, & it was. However discovered a small blue component that is burnt out – hopefully a result of the original element blow, but no idea what it is. Burning smell appeared to be coming from this too. It’s a small blue barrel, about 1/2 inch diameter, has just one wire either side. Only markings on it are;Ty60
10/250~
16/250~ T210Any ideas?
Can supply a digi pic if that helps.Cheers.

It’s the oven thermal cut-out Steve, part number 818760550 at £12.00 inc VAT and delivery.
If you want one let me know by email to authorise, I’ll have all your details from the element order.
Special order this one so it may take a few days to get, 5-7 working I would estimate.
