Our dishwasher stopped pumping out water and after reading through the posts on this excellent web site I came to the conclusion that the drain pump was seized. I took the base pan off the bottom off the machine to access the pump and was surprised to find the base pan had lots of limescale / salt build up and to find the drain pump also encrusated with salts / limescale. I stripped the pump (it was seized) and found that there was a build up of rust / salts between the armature and the magnet and that these had stopped the rotor / pump impellor shaft from turning. After cleaning the rust out, the pump tested fine (mechanically) and has been refitted to the machine (also working fine). My question is, could the gland seal on the rotor / impellor shaft be worn where it passes through the body of the pump and therefore be leaking water into the drain pump causing it to sieze. ie will the same problem occur again. I was thinking of replacing the pump, but at a cost of £51.70 inc postage I would like to be sure, as its working fine otherwise. If I do replace the pump are there any other seals that you would suggest I replace at the same time.
