ParticipantHello,
New to the forum but thanks in advance for any help.
Basically my in laws dishwasher has stopped functioning as expected.
Initially I checked all filters etc and the thing is spotless. The dishwasher itself fills from what I can gather, it pumps out as required but there don’t appear to be enough pressure to turn the arms etc, It just hums away. Nothing is being cleaned on any racks.
I went through the fault finding process and initially checked the aquastop at the supply side. The filters internally were clear but when the dishwasher is actuated the “solenoid” seems to buzz at a fairly noticeable level. Is it possible that this aquastop is damaged? I did remove it briefly to see and there is an intermittent click from the the unit when the machine is demanding water?
Otherwise I’m pretty stumped.
Thanks.

Moderatormy guess would be the impellor has broken or something has blocked it
its an old unit and have had a few of these go

parts breakdown here

if you do do it then replace the seal in front of the motor as well
you can see the impellor with a mirror in the sump to see if its brokenserial number would have allowed me to date the machine apart from that i dont need it

ParticipantHi Dave,
Thanks for the comprehensive reply. Any stand out points I should look for with the impellor etc? I’ll go back up in the morning and have a look.
Any reason as why the aquastop is “buzzing”?

Moderatorthe front and back of the impeller part company so all that turns is the rear disk

ParticipantHi Dave,
I removed the grey clip to expose impellor and found it to be able to turn but I can push it back and forth. Assume I shouldn’t be able to do this? Cheer

ParticipantYeah exactly what I found. I couldn’t feel any resistance etc. Presume it’s an easy enough fix for replacing the impellor itself like for like then?

ParticipantThanks for all this help Dave. I’ll remove the kickboard tomorrow and have a look, see if it’s gonna be easy enough to access etc then order the bits. Presumably on the underside of the unit I’ll be able to gain access
Appreciate all the help.
Thanks very much.

Moderatorit not an easy fix. base is solid so you have to drop the base off but its holding a lot of stuff up
water inlet has to come off and i think water softener to enable base to come off enough to access. also door springs need disconnecting
its a take your time and dont pull to hard
