Moderatorsome of you may be aware but i was not till today. Qualtex told me they have nowhere to store special orders. so that means they get sent out the day they come in.
The problem with that is a the postage charges that are fixed at around £8.. What has been happening up to now is when the parts come in they show up on our normal order, which is normally once a week. Then we order it in a lump. If its free p&p then happy days if its not we have a number of spares to spread the cost
now we all know how spares come in. They may arrive at once, they may arrive one a day for a week. Had a part recently where i odered 5 of one item on special and 3 came in. you can also get customers who need more then one special part.you can do the maths but the number of carriage charges could be silly
this could make buying retail cheaper
mad when buying off Ebay is cheaper than a trade account, where is the loyalty? not sure these days

ParticipantHow things have changed. Not so long ago (maybe 8 years), Qualtex included the value of special orders towards their £60 free postage threshold, they turned them around quickly and special orders were sent out as soon as they received them. I am sure that helped them establish demand for individual lines and build their product range while they were refocusing and growing their business into genuine parts.
It pays to shop around, especially for non stocked items. I order as much by value direct from manufacturers as I order from any individual distributor. Among trade distributors, ASWO seem to have the most customer friendly approach. They charge postage once per order, regardless of the number of deliveries. There are a range of postage options, with cost tapering according to total order value. For many brands, I find they also stock many parts with only limited availability in the UK.

Same for us, we just phone them have a whinge, mention ASWO and hey presto delivery charge credited. When you ask why it happens on a regular basis they have no answer.
