ParticipantHi there, my 14 year dishwasher has stopped working.
I first noticed this when the machine finished it’s cycle and there was water in the bottom of the unit. Normally it is glass in the drain pump impeller but not this time as it is clear. I checked the various pipes for blockages (nothing found), and the aquastop unit is not displaying any faults and it’s filter is clean. I checked the other pump impeller but this was OK but there was a residue on the outer casing near the the impeller. Now after I have checked all of the above when it starts, it makes noises but there is no demand for water to go into the machine. Any clues where I should focus?

Moderatori take it it pumps, then the pump stops and it goes quiet
if yes suspect inlet valve
turn machine on and start when the pump stops put your ear close to the valve and see if you can hear it humming. on that machine the valve is probably in the bulge directly connected to the tap
cant be certain as you have posted an incomplete model number

ParticipantThanks for replying Dave. The model no, is SGV43EOGB, an integrated model. I have turned it on after a series of clicks it then makes a sound like a little water passing through a pipe. I opened it and there was a clear sound of gurgling and after lifting the filter out there was a small amount of water in the base.

Moderatorwould have expected the water check light to come on if no water was being taken in
these machine are almost silent when filling, if you leave it 3 or 4 mins after it goes silent then check for water. as longs as its been silent and made no other noises

ParticipantHi Dave, sorry for the late reply but I had other more pressing matters to attend to.
The other day I went to make a video of what the machine was doing to post here. When the machine started I then left it running a few minutes. I heard the sound of water and opened the door. There was a small amount of water dribbling out of the arms. This had not been the case since the problem first arose. Intrigued by this I re-started the machine and after a while water started flowing at full throttle with the arms moving round and spraying as it should. The machine is fully fincational now. All I can put this down to is either there was a loose connection which was “fixed” when I started investigating the problem or there was a blockage and my ckecks on the plumbing cleared it. Either way the machine works.
I now don’t have the worry but I would like to thank you for your help. It is folk like you who help folk like me to fix machines rather than just dumping them. -
