ParticipantHelp! The door seal has come off the drum and is causing a leak. Questions:
– where can I find the serial number
– what could have caused the seal to come off and is it re-fittable
– are there instructions out there for this model on how to remove the seal and inspect, is it one where the top and front panels come off easily.
– can I do this job myself (no previous experience) or should I call in a plumber
– I live in London! If I need to call a plumber, would it be more cost-effective to do this or buy a new washing machine?November 26, 2020 at 11:54 am #473512electrofix
Moderatoras to if you can do this will depend on your level of mechanical experience
they dont fall off often so there needs ot be a reason
you could look at youtube as rubber fitting is mostly the same on any machine with minor differences in clamps and accessability
info on Baumatic is difficult as they were taken over by Candy
has it been making any loud noises recently

ParticipantHi Dave,
Thanks for your input, much appreciated!
No noises, just walking forward slightly in the past few weeks, hadn’t got round to checking if the machine was level.
Have looked at youtube videos – found out it can be a fiddly job if done through the porthole and easier if the top and front panels , and the drum holder thingy can be easily taken off.
Baumatic couldn’t help with taking the panels off.November 26, 2020 at 12:58 pm #473514electrofix
Moderatorinfo for baumatic stuff can be hard
looked on the candy tech site and all we have got is parts drawrings, from the pic i would say front is welded on

ParticipantYour Baumatic is a pre Hoover / Candy in other words it is not a Candy rebadged machine. What used to happen is the the spider used to rot then crack then take out the front plastic tub front which gave the impression that the door seal seal had fallen off the tank ( door seals are never attached to the ” drum ” ).whereas what has really happened is that the tank front has been cut by friction, I could be wrong you could be right so if the d/seal has just fallen off, which is going to be very rare, it must be a rusted through door seal retaining wire / band which allowed it to part company with the tank. Parts are thin on the ground for these things unless someone has some old stock: I do know that, least officially, the tub front and tub front seal are obsolete as far as I can tell by a brief look up.

ParticipantAm I right in thinking this is a Fagor/Brandt produced machine? If so, that would explain why supply of spares has dried up.
