Our Swan dishwasher SDW7080 has recently given up on us. A few weeks ago the eco wash light was flashing, which according to the manual meant an overflow problem. We took the dishwasher on a quick trip outside, tilted it and drained the water as another site had suggested and when it was plugged back in, it was working as usual. My husband thought at the time that this issue came about because he had put in too much dishwasher salt (no idea if this is accurate, but I like to humour him!).

Last week, the same fault occurred and another quick drain fixed the issue. I should mention that we had checked all the filters (they get cleaned regularly) and my husband checked all the pipes for blockages – no problems identified this time. Assumed it was just “one of those things” and carried on.

Last night, the eco wash light was flashing YET AGAIN, but this time we got very little water out the dishwasher when we attempted to drain it. Plugged it back in and then found that it wouldn’t turn on at all – no lights or anything!! We checked the socket, which was working perfectly, then silently cursed the dishwasher gods for their attempt at a joke.

Fast forward to this afternoon and we thought we might see if the dishwasher elves had fixed it overnight. Although it did turn on this time (by which I mean some lights came on), we now have the intensive wash and rapid wash lights flashing AS WELL AS the eco wash light. Oddly, the 90 min wash light is the only one not flashing – not sure if this is significant.

My husband’s view is that “the electrics are f******” (excuse his French) and thinks that the motherboard has been damaged by water. He desperately wants to throw it out, but I’m hoping someone here might be able to shed some light on what the problem is and what we might be able to do to fix it.

I would be very grateful for any advice, if only to prove my husband wrong!!

Thank you for taking the time to read this essay – the husband has already poked fun at me three times for the amount I’m typing!!

well it seems your unit has a leak somewhere

first i think a dry out cant hurt as by tipping it you may well have got things wet that should not be

you need to remove one of the covers. The right side if you can. then find a small fan ( sure you have one you wont need till next summer) and blow air into it for about an hour to dry out any remaining water
After that if it functions run it with the side off and with a torch look to see if anything is dripping

once you see a drip then it depends on where it is what you do next

oh and tell your partner that the amount of typing helps us because we get a full description of the fault
