    Hi,

Normally after a program starts, it should also start taking water in.
But, instead of water comes in the machine, I hear some vacuum-like noise from the bottom of the machine.

    Here are what I have checked/investigated so far;

    1. Intake valve checked by ohm-meter. It was OK, it wasn’t open circuit. And then connected it to 220V by removing wire from the machine. It also works OK. The water comes from the other end of the pipe.
However, at the beginning of the program, I didn’t see/hear the intake valve energized at all.
But, in the middle of some process, I noticed that the intake valve energized and adequate amount of water filled in the heat exchanger. It is also proof that the main-board can energize if it decides to do so.

    2. I opened the side of the machine where some valves and heat exchanger are. I have monitored all pipes and valves and water flow. (this part tested after I filled water in the bottom of the machine by bucket)

If I filled water by bucket, it works OK up until next water intake. It makes again the same vacuum-like noise coming from the bottom of the machine. I fill water by a bucket again and the program continues from where it stopped. On some rare occasion I think it gets the water in the middle of the program but I can’t confirm hundred-percent.

I am a bit puzzled. I thought that the main-board port (triac) for the intake valve was failing.
But, no it works OK. I think, there is something blocking the sequence of process before continue to energizing intake valve. Something tells me the vacuum-like noise is responsible for that!?

    What do you think?

    Thanks in advance

a lot of fill problems on these units are caused by sludge build up in the pressure switch unit and the pipe that comes out of it leading to the front of the sump

Thanks a lot Dave and happy new year!

In fact that the set “480748” was also in my radar. But I didn’t know for sure it might be the issue although I noticed earlier there were a lot of build up (lime) on this part. I will give this a chance and replace it with a brand new one.

    Best Regards,

forget replacing it, strip and clean it, done loads never had to fit a new one

also take off the pipe running out of the front as had loads of those gummed up

Yes, I did it so. I disassembled the piece starting with the heat exchanger block. I cleaned up every piece including the pipe running to sump pump. It was pretty gummy as you said. I put things back and yes, it did the job. So, whoever reads this, the tip Dave gave works OK.

But, my journey with this fix is not over. I created another problem myself. Because, I wasn’t careful enough.
Water fills in the heat exchanger safe and sound now, the machine works like a clock. But, without noticing I made a tiny crack at the edge of the heat exchanger by a sharp metal piece on the machine 🙁
The heat exchanger is a molded hard plastic but, the back side of the this block sealed with a sheet of folio, 1mm perhaps.
    Remember, treat this sheet carefully.

Anyway, I then disassembled things again. I applied heat to that tiny dent with an iron at max. temperature. It doesn’t melt away the sheet but gluing pieces together nicely. However, my trust to that fix is not that high or I am too cautious. I don’t want my floor flooded someday.

I then assembled things back. I gave it a run one more time. It did the job luckily, it holds the water 🙂
I was about to celebrate that second fix. But, after a second test, for some reason my original problem came back. I tried many times again and again but the water never filled in 🙁

I just wanted to give the machine a second life. I think, I should stop here and buy a new dishwasher.

    Thanks a lot Dave.

check the wires as they come out of the bottom of the door

    sometimes over years they snap
