Hi – the solarplus grill element has 1/2 grill, full grill and top oven functionality. My grill stopped working so as the top oven still works OK I assumed the fault was in the switch which I replaced but the grill function still does not work. How do i check the element for grill functionality ? Thanks
find the connections to the element and check for continuity using a multi meter with the wires disconnected

Ok – wasnt sure a continuity check was the way to do it – so the solarplus just a standard heating conductor but cased in glass ? Are there 2 elements within the glass tube (1 for grill and 1 for top-oven) as it has 4 terminals ?
Does the grill control have a high/ low or double/single setting. If yes then that is the reason for the two grill elements. The top oven normally uses a combination of the grill element and a separate element under the base of the top oven.
Yes the grill has 2 options – left side side only or full width – it is also variable on both settings but doesnt work at all. The top-oven still works OK and uses the full width of the element. What I’m trying to understand is whether the top-oven uses the same heating element as the grill because if so then the element is ok and it must be the switch.
If the whole of the grill elements come on when the top oven is selected then the elements are ok and the grill selector control is the more likely cause of the problem. As previously mentioned the top oven uses both the grill and a base element.
