ParticipantI have a LIEBHERR CTP 3316 fridge-freezer, bought in 2013, that intermittently goes warm (fridge: 8 to 15; freezer: -1 to -30 degrees C). The compressor (warm to the touch, low noise) does not work all the time, the drain hole is not blocked and there is no ice build up inside the fridge compartment. Switched-off for 48-hours for full defrosting did not change things, although it worked well for the first few hours (fridge: 5, freezer -18).
Through reading on-line, I am wondering if this behavior is due to defective temperature sensor. Could you point me in the direction of a service manual, or specific instructions of how to replace it?
I would very much appreciate your feedback.

ParticipantThe CT(sl) 3306 and CTP(esf) 3016, 3316 are TopFreezer with SmartFrost freezer compartment. Both evaporators are connected in series (see 4.2.4 Principle of operation of the refrigerating system). Therefore the refrigerator compartment can only be operated in conjunction with the freezer compartment. The refrigerator compartment is cooled by a foamed-in evaporator. There are two sensors for switching the compressor on and off. The freezer compartment is realized with a SmartFrost system, i.e. the evaporator tube is wound around the freezer compartment liner.

ParticipantMany thanks for your promt reply, Tony. I understand you are an expert on Liebherr fridges. Am I correct in thinking that a faulty sensor is causing these problems or should I consider checking something else as well.

ParticipantI had a similar problem on my Liebherr fridge freezer as the freezer was ok but the fridge was warm. It turned out to be low on refrigerant. I topped mine up as an experiment and it works ok now if a little too cool.

ParticipantIf your unit cools and freezes intermittently and compressor is not running constantly then it is a control issue, NOT GAS, I would advise replacing the sensor first in the fridge.

ParticipantThe temperature sensor recommended for this model is the following:
Fridge & Freezer Electronic Temperature Sensor, SKU 9590206
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/9590142-liebherr-fridge-freezer-sensorAs this comes in a kit form, there must be some modification made by the manufacturer, probably concerning the placement of the sensor inside the small box provided instead of its usual place (under a small cover located next to the lamp housing with the sensor in contact with the back of the fridge). The 2nd sensor is inside the lamp housing.
I would very much appreciate it if you could send me instructions for proper fitting of this kit-sensor or point me in the direction of a service manual.

ParticipantInstructions should be included with part, designed so it will replace all sensors in that resistance range without the need to remove the jack plug from the circuit board for fitting. Always remove mains from unit before attempting repair. ensure box is placed behind rear radiator for appearances.

ParticipantThank you for all your help, Tony. I was told that there are no fitting instructions included with this part. I am concerned about proper positioning of the small white housing (sensor is to be clamped inside) on the rear wall of the fridge. I could not find something useful online. Do you know if there is a service information issued that could help in this repair?
NB. The user’s manual for this fridge-freezer line is here:

ParticipantHi Haris, My previous post recommended placing the white box behind the rear radiator grill, that way it is hidden from view.
It is purely a junction box to join the new section of sensor ( cut to length by you ) to connect to to the old cable running back to the pcb. -
