ParticipantThink its all getting to people..
Had a customer ring up with a Gorenje 50/50 f/f not working (fridge and light not working but freezer ok cos it’s still -9 in there[IMG2=JSON]{“data-align”:”none”,”data-size”:”full”,”src”:”https://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/forums/core/core/images/smilies/icon_neutral.gif”}[/IMG2]) she bought it in 2019 so still IG. Gave her the number for Gorenje and off she toddled. Rang back five minutes later in a rage asking why she wasn’t told their customer service was an 0845 number… she wishes she’d never bought it from us……wtf.
Then a new DPD guy comes over with 2 boxes, asked to leave them at the closed door and take delivered photo as he can’t come in, (just like all our other deliveries) He wants i.d. and won’t leave them without, to a shop that had the address on the box from Connect. He then stormed off with the boxes to have a screaming fit in his van, heard from the shop with doors closed, then bogs off..so we’ve had to postpone all our afternoon calls cos of him….and it was only 12 noon.

ModeratorI think its your area with dpd as the drivers they use with me are fantastic and I’ve ordered off connect after there 3.00pm cut off for next day delivery and the part has turned up the next day which wasn’t expected plus dpd give you a hour time slot dhl with aswo are any time

Moderatordpd have improved slighlty. THe hour slot is useful but can work against you sometimes. had a driver who had a parcel for me on his van but he was too early.he was not allowed to deliver early without permission otherwise he would get in trouble. he tried to get permission and could not get hold of anyone so had to drive away with my parcel and bring it back later
also found notes on the floor saying we tried to deliver which was posted through a shop door which was not locked. also had meesages to say we tried to deliver and i had been there at the time and again all they had to do was walk in. its not as if they knocked and got no reply
parcel force are ok. if i am not there next door gets it

ModeratorI obviously don’t get any stock deliveries these days but still get plenty of parcels. I have to say that in this area DPD are head and shoulders above any other couriers.

Moderatorproblem with dpd is its a franchise and when you ring DPD head office they have no power to get them to do anything because they are not directly employed
if your local franchise is good then your ok, mine has left a lot to be desired over the years.

ParticipantMost couriers operate at least some their final deliveries through franchisees. Everyboody will have their local favourites, where I am, most are very good. Probably the worst has been Parcelforce (non franchise) – driver not always bothering to visit and recording as nobody available to accept delivery. DPD is the only one providing 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} reliable 1-hour delivery slots (though I think these were suspended temporariliy late laat year).

ParticipantIt pays to be nice to the drivers – and show appreciation. Often part of the so-called gig economy, they are under a lot of pressure – financial and otherwise – to meet targets and get a lot of abuse from the public.

ModeratorIf you have the same driver I always have a chat to him and I’ve even got there number and before this lockdown I’ve meet the dpd driver and had my part early they only needed the sticker off the box to scan a the time they are supposed to turn up, and I always give them a tip at Christmas time which keeps them happy

ParticipantOur DPD driver always takes a photo of the box in the open doorway – to provide proof of delivery. If the driver can’t do this, I suspect they are liable for any claim for non-delivery. I guess if you have signed a waiver to allow deliveries to be left without a signature, this may allow the boxes to be left outside.

ParticipantTurns out the parcel that needed ID wasn’t for us, but he took ours as well. We got them back the next day with our usual driver.
