ParticipantHi,
After running a load of clothes for about 20 mins, my Sharp kd-hhh8s7gw2 heat pump tumble dryer display shows an error code E04 the clothes are still damp and no water is in the reservoir. Has anyone come across this before? Looked at the manual all it says e04 contact customer support but i can’t get through. Hope someone can help. Thanks John

ParticipantThanks. I’ve take the side panel off and taken a few pictures, not sure what i’m looking for to be honest. There are wires going into a white connector but none coming out near to compressor. I can’t seem to upload the pictures to this thred.

ParticipantThanks that identify’s why it wasn’t working!! It’s brand new too, is it a fairly simple part to replace and fit?

ParticipantMachine is now working i’m well happy. The white connector was disconnected from the compressor. It has three holes which fit into the compressor plug.

ParticipantHi electrofix and kwatt , thanks for sharing this diagnosis.
I have the same dryer (2+ years old) and E04 error code. The dryer air does feel warm (not as hot as I recall) and the coils behind the trap door are not warming up at all. Does that point to the same compressor connection issue? I want to double check before I take it down and open it.
I cleaned the heat fins (it wasn’t bad), checked that the condensate line is not blocked (washer is able to drain to the same pipe), and reset the power circuit. Yet the issue is repeatable.
Thanks!

Participantkwatt I finally had time to open my dryer and found that my compressor is connected. Could it be something else? Hopefully that doesn’t mean the compressor is broken. The connection feels solid. Maybe not that straight but it didn’t come loose when I tugged at it but I didn’t pull hard to remove it in case it is delicate.
Like before I get the E04 error after about 15 minutes. Until then I can feel the compressor vibrate for a few seconds every few minutes. The compressor cooling fan works. However, the air in the dryer does not heat up. When the E04 error stops the dryer the compressor feels very hot.

KeymasterI’d expect in that case the board isn’t seeing the compressor then, why I don’t know.

ParticipantJust following up that my issue was the start capacitor for the compressor. You could tell that the compressor was powered and it would try to start with a spike in the current draw and then stop.
Here’s a photo of the capacitor that needed to be replaced. It cost around 20 EUR.

Also, here is an explanation of all the error codes.
