Called to the above oven. The complaint was the oven sometimes cuts out but comes back on after a short while.
Sometimes the oven lamp drops to about half brightness and the oven makes a strange noise. The way the customer explained the noise I wondered if it could be relay chatter but not sure.
Four months ago I changed the selector switch and some of the connectors as it/they had burnt out.
I have checked the selector and it looks OK., no sign of melting or burning.
I ran the oven up to 250deg on a work table for testing and to eliminate ventilation issues. Shortly after the oven reached 250deg the overheat cut-out operated killing the oven.
I get 240 volts at the cooling fan and there are no blockages in the fan duct or vents. It’s difficult to tell but the fan didn’t appear to be binding or sluggish.
Have there been any modifications to the fan motor or TOC?
Has anyone found a similar issue with these ovens?

fan motor was modded to lower power in later units

older units have metal fan later ones use plastic. done for energy saving purposes

cant see any change of toc but have had them self heat and trip out early when contacts get dirty with age

This model has the plastic fan.
“had them self heat and trip out early when contacts get dirty with age” are you referring to the TOC contacts getting hot?
