    Hello and thanks for reading.

I recently changed the capacitor to our Candy Grand O condenser dryer and it fired up like a charm.

After running it with an average load for around 10 minutes, the ground floor breaker tripped and the dryer had no power supply at all after that. Checked supply to the usual suspects and wondered if anybody had come across this before?

So to go back, drum wouldn’t turn so did the push test revealing it was the capacitor (7uf 400Vac). Ordered a new one and as mentioned above it tripped and died after 10 minutes.
Was it the replacement or more importantly could a faulty replacement cause a much more serious problem with the board? No signs of burning, but after reassembly noticed the drum was a little tighter than before even though it was put back together correctly. If the drum was a little tight, could this cause a failure?

    Many thanks in advance

unless you made a mistake and the wire round the cap got caught in the belt then i cant see the cap would cause this

No, nothing out of place where wiring was concerned. After checking it again everything seems to be where it was before changing capacitor. It was a nightmare to get to but everything went ok in the end and it was hooked up properly and bolt secured.
It fired up as you would expect it to do after having a cap change.

Ran perfectly for 10 mins and the pop/lights out.

The drum does however seem to be moving more freely now, so thinking it could have been the drum felt not lining up properly although I did check it before reassembly. Hypothetically, could that cause it to short out if there was too much resistance/friction between the drum and the felt?

    Cheers again

It sounds like to me a wire has been caught on re assembly and rubbed on the drum causing pcb to go i agree with dave highly unlikely the capacitor would cause this

Thanks for your replies chaps. Definitely no wiring issues after yet another inspection of all wiring potentially coming into contact with any moving parts.
    Total mystery!
