We have a John Lewis washing machine spin 1200 7kg, purchased 2016. When we turn it on or try to start a wash, the Door Lock light flashes several times and a clicking sound comes from the door mechanism. The machine then won’t start a cycle. I’ve turned it off and on at the wall, leaving it for at least ten minutes. Presumably this is a problem with the door lock, as the flashing light indicates. It would be useful to know if this sounds like a big job or not before we spend money on calling someone out. If it’s an easy repair, we’ll keep the machine, but if it’s likely to be expensive, we are thinking of getting a new machine anyway.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Door lock part number is 8084553083. BUT if I was you I would check the motor brushes before buying anything just in case they are worn out and are the cause of the problem. Usually the brushes are not listed by Zanussi ( which is what your machine really is ) on their site because that would be really useful (!) and way cheaper than the motor that is only shown, but are listed under Whirlpool / Hotpoint brand who use the same make of motors and therefore the same brushes.

Turns out it was the control panel.
