ParticipantHi,
I’ve a question that is more a general point on service support for appliances that are installed by an installer (be it an independant or specialist) as part of a kitchen refurb project. My other half had a kitchen refurbed, the whole thing, floor, walls, ceiling/lighting, units and all the main apliances. 18 months later the dishwasher is unserviceable and the service guy says the parts can’t be obtained for the model (a Cata I think). I know that if I bought a dishwasher direct from a retailer I would expect the retailer to either repair or replace a dishwasher if it died after 18 months. Should she expect the kitchen installer to do this on her behalf? She paid the installer direct, not the appliance supplier.
Normally I’d be expected to get my hands dirty with this kind of thing, but as it’s so new and I’m very busy, I’ve told other half to get in touch with the installer. I wasn’t involved in this project at all, and when I asked OH if she had thought about the quality of the appliances when she got quotes I got a snotty look for my trouble.March 11, 2021 at 12:26 pm #475699iadom

My general advice was always, never buy the appliances the kitchen company wants to sell you. Research and specify your own. If they can’t do that then go elsewhere.

ParticipantThe Cata products I can see online all have a 2 year warranty so it’d be worth contacting Cata about it. They also unfortunately all get terrible reviews. 🙁

Good luck with that, 🙁 They do have a Facebook page you could always have a rant on. 😉
CATA Electrodomésticos | FacebookAnd their web site for the ‘resto’ Europe. 🙂 Homepage | CATA appliances
Clicking on Customer Service just gets you a web page request form and a Spanish phone number. 🙁

That’s bad. In that case I suppose the fitting company is the only avenue you can go down. 🙁
