Hi there, my oven recently started tripping the rcd, so I called out an engineer snd he replaced the oven 2200w element with a 2500w element, he tested the oven and it lasted 16mins before tripping the rcd. He told me it could be the thermostat, so I replaced the oven thermostat and the selector switch for the different functions but rcd trips still.

well that is supect for a start

there are other things it can be but over 90{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time its an element. does not have to be the oe he fitted so you could try disconnecting the others one by one, make the wires safe and see if it trips

the gen element is not that expensive so would never use the cheap alternatives

Would 2500w oven element be too powerful than my original one which was only 2200w. As in would the 2500w cause damage to my oven as it’s got more wattage…?

no element wattage is ok, think smeg did use them at one time but all elements getting lower due to energy saving
