I have the old age Mistral FF73S problem of warm fridge, cold freezer. I have changed the yellow & green thermistors and done al the usual checks suggested on the forum. I have now bought a new, genuine PCB module (old part no. C00218671, new part no. J00089558) and tried to replace it. However the old board has Pressac connectors and the new one has PCB and Molex type connectors. I spoke to a really helpful chap at Hotpoint and he looked into it for me. He advised that the board had been modified, not surprising as the FF is over 20 years old. The modification needs to have a wiring adaptor kit that used to be made but is now obsolete and no no longer sold by them. I am desperately trying to find a dusty one lying at the back of shop shelf or help in identifying where the old connectors need to go to on the new PCB. I can them make up my own adaptor kit based upon knowing the connectors needed and where they connect. Any help from the Forum massively appreciated. Thanks.

Having changed the thermistors and the baffle being open, I checked the board (can’t upload pic) and have an overheating area on the board. When the power is on, this area is very warm. The area is the one with the three sided metal ‘shield’ around three resistors. Don’t know how better to describe it. I don’t know how to test the board for faults but the heat marks can’t be right. The resistors don’t look burnt.

some old board use different ways of powering the board that fail over time. sonce i could not see a pic of the board and tech info is not available was wondering if it was a power issue

am not too worried about the burnt bit. they have 3 330 ohm resistors in parrallel i assume so they will get warm and discolour the board over time
power supply is a transformer so they are very reliable
it is very unlikely you will find the plug mod wire as an engineer would only order it if its needed
it may be possible to find a plug to fit but we have to assume the contact order is the same but we dont know for certain without wiring diagrams for both boards

I’m still searching for wiring diagrams :-(. Out of curiosity, I had the freezer drawers out this morning and there was quite a build up of ice. I disconnected the yellow thermistor and turned it on expecting the fan to work as described in many forum answers to do with this common problem. The fan didn’t start and I had a E7 message. I had tested the fan previously with 240v and it had worked with direct power. I disconnected the green thermistor separately and got the E1 message. Any suggestions please?
you have to hope someone on here still has the manual. on the hopoint site i have access to they have not included older models

I have a service manual which includes a theoretical and wiring connection details for the Mistral models 8496W/A/P 8596W/A/P and 8696 W/A/P dated July 94 not sure if they are of any use.
