ParticipantI’ve finally got rid of my dodgy Beko and had a new Hoover HMNB6182X5KN fridge-freezer delivered. Both the supplied user manual and the one downloaded form the Hoover site are diabolical. Its a generic manual and it doesn’t mention ANY model numbers. There are diagrams of several interiors from several models but no model number labelling. The same for the controls. Several diagrams, none of which look like mine. Luckily the main controls are dead easy…. 4 temp settings and a fast cool setting.
At the rear of the fridge section there is a sliding selector lever which is marked “Freezer airflow” with min and max at each end of its travel. It came set in the middle position. You can feel that this is a simple mechanical sliding vent of some sort but not being an expert, I don’t really know what it is for. My best guess is that this blocks off the vents that I can see in the back of the fridge compartment and that if set to “min” it will reduce the amount of cold air coming through the vents from the freezer section. The Hoover data sheet on their website states that the appliance has separate controls for fridge and freezer. I’m thinking that the main temp control panel sets the freezer temperature and the sliding airflow selector controls the fridge temperature. Does this sound right?
Thanks.

ModeratorSadly no Dave I havn’t , as the poster says I reckon it’s an airflow vent but the instructions are not great to say the least!
I would leave it at the mid section and see how it goes. If you are worried give Hoover a ring and ask the question.

ParticipantI emailed Hoover on Tuesday. They replied within the hour asking for the serial number which I then gave but they haven’t got back since. I’ve now got problems with the temperature control. It was getting far too cold but I’ve now discovered that my 1-4 temp range is running backwards to what is in the manual and to what I believe is general convention. The manual states that 1 is warmest and 4 is coldest but on mine its the opposite.

ModeratorThat’s how it normally goes, it could be that Hoover have changed that logic though . I would give them until lunch today to respond then pop them a reminder.
