ParticipantInitial fault was oven would cut out for overheating via protection thermostat. I found that the cooling fan thermal switch had broken inside the rubber boot part on the end. This has been replaced but will not activate the fan before the overheat thermostat kicks in and cuts the oven out. The new cooling fan thermal switch has been swapped for another but the same fault occurs. Could this be a controller fault. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Moderatornot had a faulty one but there is always a first time
are you sure you got the connections and colours correct
the unit is a thermal relay that has 4 coloured wires 2 pairs of the same colour
connect the correct pair to a 240v supply and the unit makes a connection on the other 2. I know the wires are blue and white but cant remember which way round they should go

ParticipantThank you Dave, I am sure I reconnected the wires the same way I removed them but could possibly be wrong. I have heated the end up with a hairdryer whilst connected and it kicks in to start the cooling fan so not sure why it won’t kick in before the over temp cut out switch. Is there a specific location for the end with the rubber boot on or does it just lay on the oven casing?

Moderator2 of the wires provide a 240v feed to a heater to heat it up so it will activate
cant remeber the colours off my head so remind me
think its blue and white and what colour have you got connected to the fan itself ?

ParticipantAm wondering if one of you wizards can solve my oven issue.
I have an AEG competence (B2100-1-M PNC 944 181 731)
Oven cooling fan used to stay on for an hour after oven cooled down. Now oven cooling fan does not work at all now. Oven heats up and main fan works, but oven cuts out after 20 mins. Once cools down I can turn it back on and it heats up.
I’ve measured continuity across cooling fan motor (157.2 ohms) and cut out shows continuity.
Would it be the cooling fan itself or a faulty fan motor thermal cut out (part no 3872079029)? . Or possibly the main thermostat?
Thanks. LeighJune 27, 2021 at 4:08 pm #476455electrofix
