I have a SMEG SUK62CMX5 cooker which has a ceramic hob. One of the elements has gone. On most hobs, you appear to be able to lift the glass plate off by undoing four screws. But not this one. There are four screws – not obvious – but when these are undone, the whole hob assembly lifts up, as far as the wires will allow it to go, which isn’t far. This is not sufficient to allow access to the elements. Does anyone know how to remove the glass plate on this cooker? Thanks

I’m guessing that’s the wrong things you’ve undone as the glass has to lift up, the plates are not fixed to it.

Thanks for your reply. Apart from cutting through the sealant that holds the glass top into its metal frame, I can’t see any other fastenings. I’m hoping that is NOT the solution.

No, it won’t be but on many you need to take the facia off to get to the front screws.
