60cm Electric Double Cooker with Ceramic Hob

I have just bought a new hotpoint cooker, on first use i noticed something a bit odd which i have never seen on any previous cooker,
When the main oven is on, steam/vapor enters behind the glass of the top oven, when you open the main oven door the top glass is fully steamed up.
I just wondered if anyone has encountered this before or should i just live with it.

Probably just a very cold appliance due to the colder weather we have had of late. I would run both ovens on 200 degrees for half an hour, I reckon it will be okay after that.

Just had this reply from Hotpoint after I sent a video highlighting the problem, its laughable:

Thankyou for your video showing exactly how the ovens operate, compared to older versions when the fan was tied to the door. Top tip my partner wears glasses so will turn the thermostat dial for the oven down before opening the door to stop her glasses fogging.

I think someone is taking the proverbial 🙂

    Have you tried my suggestion?

I have a HUE61K that is a few years old and it can do this at times. The glass of the triple glazed doors is full open at the bottom so any steam escaping from the bottom oven goes up between the top oven door glass. It’s a bit odd but doesn’t seem to do any harm.
As for Hotpoint’s ‘answer’, well there isn’t much to say!

Thanks Don, i’ll give that a try, I’ve never seen that on a cooker before, just seemed a bit odd at first.

Being kind to the Hotpoint agent, I wear glasses and have a Neff oven which is now around 10 years old. Whenever I open the oven door when my glasses are cold they steam up completely.
