    Hi All,

Wondered if anyone can help ease my sanity.
Turned the main oven fan element of my SMEG SY4110 on this morning and was greeted with quite a smell and no heat.
Ive confirmed that the upper and lower elements in the main oven all work as does the fan and the top cooler fan.
Ive taken out the element and run a continuity test which seems to show I have 26ohms through the element which I honestly thought was ok?
I then ran some insulated test leads from the element connections and I can verify I have 240v to the element…but still no heat.

Would anyone know if this resistance is too low and would imply a faulty element or do I have a more sinister issue?
    Many thanks for any advice,
    Steve

if there is live and neutral on the element and no heat then its gone

Thanks Dave, just double checked again. Looks like I have live on both terminals so have lost a neutral somewhere.

you need to trace the neutral but it may well go back to the selector sw or the terminal block

I think ive found the culprit!
I was given a cheap app based endoscope for my birthday and thought Id put it to good use.
Ive added a link with some photos of the selector switch, you can see that looking from the front of the oven the Right hand side is clean and shiny whereas the left hand side has been burned some of the contact parts are missing.

the contacts wont be missing otherwise you would find them in the cooker but it look a likely candidate
