Noticed laundry was snagging on a screw inside the top of drum, the screw in question was the top one of two which appear to anchor the bulb lamp cover which has somehow gone awol. (Bulb was still working) The ring seal round the bulb housing itself is possibly also no longer quite complete. I removed the protruding screw and bulb. A couple of questions if anyone can help.

    1. Is it safe to continue using the machine with no cover or bulb in place?
    2. I have identified the parts required. How easy are they to fit? I notice on the Electrolux parts website the following regarding the seal… “This product should be installed by a professional technician”, but it looks like it would be straightforward enough to prise out the old one and replace?

    Any advice appreciated.

if you use it without the cover moist air will enter the lampholder and may cause a short. Not to mention is may also get into the case and affect the electronics

as for the advise they say anything has to be fitted by a qualified engineer to protect themselves in case you hurt yourself

I wondered about that. Thanks for replying.
