Hi all.
I have a Hoover condenser dryer. It started tripping the electrics last week after a couple of minutes of running. Once I reset the breaker in the consumer unit, it would do the same but only after about a 3 second run and then trip again. If I leave it for a while it will run for a bit longer until the first trip but then it would only run for 3 seconds until it tripped again. So I think it safe to say something is overheating. I did some reading and it looked like the heater was the obviously place to start but having replaced that I still have the same issue.are there anymore thermostats anywhere or anything else that would cause the circuit breaker to trip?
I also tried with the condenser removed and the front off which stopped the problem. Again this backs up the overheating idea in my head.
any suggestions on what else it could be.
it’s only 18months old so I’m determined not to skip it.

Danny.have you tried with the lid off ?
dont think its overheating it more like moisture is getting somewhere it should not beif damp air is getting in the case then with the lid off things gert better. I normall hold my glasses in my hand an movr them around to see if they fog

It has the lid off now and is still doing it. I will give it some time to dry out and run it again to see what happens
before it dries take the rear element cover off and see if its wet

ps have you tried a different socket ? not part of the same double socket
Thanks again. Yes I did try another circuit because the socket was part of a new circuit we had fitted in the kitchen. It was my first thought. It made no difference.
The heater seems dry. It all seems dry.
I’ll can’t really get to any more parts without removing the drum so I might have to get it in the garage and strip it down. No doubt the mrs will be nagging for a new dryer
Ok, so I checked the suppressor. It’s like new. But. I decided to lean it forward and have a look underneath to see if I could get to anything else and a load of water came out. So I guess there is some sort of reservoir in the bottom which I think I can see. Is there some sort of float switch or something in there? Surely that wouldn’t trip the breaker though would it? I guess it could be causing condensation inside though causing a short somewhere. I’ve emptied it best I can and stuck a load of kitchen roll in to soak it up. It’s currently running and has been for a few minutes.
if this has fixed it, what would be the cause for the build up of water? Poorly maintained filters? We probably don’t clean the front filter or the condenser as much as we should.
I wonder if there is an issue with the pump? It’s running perfectly at the moment. It certainly hasn’t run this long since the fault occurred. Does the reservoir fill up and then get pumped in to the door for emptying?
correct. there is a float in the tank that operates a switch
if it is that you have bought the one dryer where its a pig to get at as the drum has to come out

Yeah I’ve just been watching a video! Not sure if there’s a way I can test it other than putting a load on and seeing if the door fills up
you can introduce water down where the filter comes out. Thats where the door tank overflows to. I pour about a mug full down there and then put a load on and see if it pumps into the tank
