Hello there, looking for help with a washing machine problem
    Bosch Maxx WFL 2450 WFL2450UK/12 FD 8110 605617.
Machine did not complete spin cycle on last load and but it did spin when put on a spin only cycle
Now when I set the program, it seem to work correctly until it tries to move the drum then it will start to spin but will stop almost immediately.
The program will continue to run with the single spin efforts.
Appreciate if anyone can suggest a possible solution ?

    Regards

“Machine did not complete spin cycle on last load and but it did spin when put on a spin only cycle”
3 simple things to check 1st and why. 1) the machine might have failed 1st because it did not pump out properly / fast enough, but because you then tried it on spin only the extra time allowed the machine to pump out = then spin. The machine has to pump out 1st before it will spin so check that and see point 3. 2) this is an old machine. When were the motor brushes last changed? Do you hear any low key crackling noise when the drum / and so, the motor turns esp on spin? Possible that the brushes have almost completely worn out is the point. 3) inverse blockage in the air trap = machine fills to a more than normal level but cuts off ( which is a bit of luck otherwise you get very moist! ) and will do the wash cycle just fine BUT when the machine pumps out the compressed air in the pressure switch hose cannot escape = the actual pressure switch ( abv: p/swt ) contacts cannot be detriggered = in other words the p/swt thinks you still have a tub of water inside the machine when you have not and so will not spin….however what can also happen is the trapped air eventually escapes allowing the machine to then spin after X minutes. With an empty machine with the power off take the p/swt hose off the p/swt get a cup of luke warm water take a big gulp and blow the water down through the hose. Any blockage doing this is usually pretty obvious. Motor brushes. 2 types fitted to your machine. The most common set is part number 154740 and there are cheaper pattern versions aplenty but any of these are a bit fliddly to do and the much rarer Siemens motor whose brushes are part number 173028. Hopefully, if required, you have the former set as the Siemens ones are not cheap.
If it is non of these pointers you are probably going to struggle.

try checking the tachometer at the back of the motor

if motor starts, and these units soft start the motor, if the timer get no feedback the motor is running it will shut it down, Have had the odd magnet break over the years but it means a new motor if it has

Thanks Andy for the comprehensive reply
I have completed your 3 suggestions but unfortunately I am still in trouble
I replaced the carbon bushes (154740), the old ones had about a third left so not quiet down to the wire. I checked the hose and chamber that activates the pressure switch and this seems fine. When I put on the machine the fill and drain cycles seems to be working OK.
However it continues to start and stop the drum almost immediately on either wash or spin cycles.

    Hi eletrofix
I took the motor apart to have a look at the tachometer and the wiring seems fine, no issues with the continuity. When I remove the armature the magnet just inside the bearing is in two segments but this does not look like a break as the edges are smooth but not sure. Is this the possible ¨broken magnet” you mentioned above? Is there a way to confirm with the multimeter if the tachometer is working correctly ?

Again thank you both for your assistance

what do you mean 2 segments ? the magnet should be fixed to the armature and go round with it. if its in 2 halves it sounds like its snapped in 2

    yes needs a new motor

there is a secondhand one on ebay
    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/233797848…temCondition=4
from a different machine but the motor part no seems to be the same

a new motor is part no 00144797 and is £194 from bosch although if you look on ebay as well I found

you need to double check the above yourself and check secondhand unit is working and quiet

Big pressure on here to get it sorted so I have decided to invest in a new machine
Going to go for the Bosch again, series 6 which I think is still made in Germany
Thank you again for the assistance, this forum is a great resource
