ParticipantHi there – I hope someone might be able to give me some advice on a problem that I’ve been having for some time now. My LFT114 dishwasher has always been a bit tempremental to get going, and needs a good slam to engage the door lock to start the programme. However lately this has got worse and now I can’t get it started without physically holding the door firmly closed (ie slamming it and walking away means it won’t start). Obviously this has now effectively put it out of action.
I presume this is some sort of physical issue with the door lock rather than electrical? I’m happy to change the door lock mechanism but is that going to help in this instance? Any advice (or previous experience) welcome.
Thank you in advance, and thanks for this excellent forum which I’ve used numerous times in the past.

Moderatorthis seems to be an integrated unit
if yes check the outer decor door is not fouling the work surface.
Had a lot of unit when fitted to a granite type work surface. where they have a wooden spar under the worktop, so fitters fit the outer door high to cover this spar. Result is over time the dishwasher moves back and the door hits this spar stopping the door sw from engagingif not it probably is just a worn switch
should look like this
https://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/c00118765-dishwasher-door-lockbut dont assume its the correct one as we would need a lot more info to confirm as i found 3 different ones when i looked it up
I assume you have checked the baskets ore not stopping the door closing, normally the top one

ParticipantHi Dave – thank you very much for this response. In answer to your questions, yes this is an integrated unit and yes I’ve checked the baskets etc.
Really interesting point about the outer door. I must admit I do wonder if it’s connected to this and has just very gradually got worse and worse as the units have shifted slightly over time. It would also tally with me being able to get the programme started by physically holding the door in.
I’m guessing this might be tricky to sort out if it is the case. Hmm. I’ll take a proper look tonight with your comments in mind. Thanks again.

ParticipantJust to report back on this for anyone that experiences similar issues in the future, I removed the outer door and the dishwasher fired up and ran first time after a gentle close. I just now need to work out how to alter the door / wooden worktop bracket to sort it properly.
Thanks to Dave for the advice, I’ll pay it forward. Cheers
