ParticipantHi,
My washer/dryer fills then partly moves one way, stops, then partly moves opposite way but does not rotate completely. It continues in this manner for the selected programme but does not agitate correctly or spin, it drains completely. This happens with light, normal or heavy loads but with no load, the selected programme is performed as normal with the machine agitating and spinning to 1400RPM.
Belt tension, carbon brushes, filter and a general inspection of tubes, etc., has been done.
What have I missed? There aren’t any error codes as it’s not digital!
I would much appreciate the advice that my lack of experience needs! Thank you.July 24, 2021 at 4:45 pm #478134electrofix
Moderatorhas your motor got brushes
only ask as am getting conflicitng info from the model no
or post a clear pic of the motor ( you may have to post off site and post public link)

ParticipantHi Dave, Thanks.
Yes, it does have carbon brushes which I have inspected by taking off of the motor. There is still a good length to them and they slide easily in their housing. The machine model is the ‘Nextra6 6+4 kg Sensor Washer Dryer, Optima wash system’. The machine serial no. 3100136207498010.

Moderatorright bit of a long shot
and you will need a multimeter
at the rear of the motor there is a small generator call a tacho. This tacho feeds a voltage to the board to tell the board the motor speed
there is a possibility the magnet on the end of the armature that spins in the tacho coil is either loose or broken . if its not check for an output with the multi meter on a low ac volt range. connect meter and spin motor by hand

ParticipantOoh, sounds interesting! I’ll give this a go. Thanks Dave.

ParticipantHi Dave,
I set the multimeter on 10ACV and spun the motor by hand and got a reading of about 2V from the tacho.
I also checked ohm across tacho at 9ohm.
Carbon brushes at 3ohm.
2 field coils at 3.5 ohm each.
Are those ok?

Moderatorohm reading on the tacho does sound a bit low but if your sure you were on the right connections when you spun the motor then there is a reading out of it
well really out of ideas . As far as i know if the tacho was open circuit then the board can detect that and abort programme
The only other thing is an intermittant problem that disconnects the tacho while the machine is moving
check for broken wires by connecting the meter then moving the wires to see if the resistance changes. Also check wiring for damage back to the timer

ParticipantHi Dave, I will re-check my findings regarding last post and thanks for your input.
