I need a washing machine fairly quickly, preferably the one made in Europe (including Britain but excluding Turkey).
Budget is 500 quid. It must be 7kg or more.Nice to haves:
1. Abilities to add laundry after the process started
2. Indication when drum is dirty and needs cleaningStrictly no WiFi or Bluetooth connectivity.
The candidates so far:
1. Zanussi ZWF144A2PW – all is good but short warranty and it doesn’t have a filter? They advertise it as if it is a good thing
2. Bosch WAN24109GB – Seems like a simple workhorse of a machine.
3. Bosch WAU28T64GB – some shops offer free recycling and installation. Neither of these is a deal breaker but rather nice to have.
4. Siemens WM14N191GB – long warranty
5. Siemens WM14UT83GB – long warranty, some extra features.Am I right to assume that the ‘N’ series of Bosch/Siemens is made in Poland and “UT” series is made in Turkey?
wan series is polish as far as i know and again as far as i know still uses the old reliable non welded tub

Saw several Siemens machines at John Lewis today. An interesting thing – the label says “Siemens trademark is used under license”.
Also noticed that there are some Siemens machines only sold through independents and these are called ExtraKlasse and not shown on Siemens website (if I search for user guide it does show up though).

A couple of years ago Siemens announced this would happen, all retailers recieved a letter from BSH group explaining it. I must confess it went over my head a little. Thankfully the letter said that trading terms etc would not be affected in any way. That was all I wanted to read, there is an explanation here if you wish to read it.
It’s nothing new for Bosch Neff and Siemens to have non core model variants available to the online boys, Euronics dealers and independents. The differences are very small and vary across each sector. It does cause a little confusion for the consumer but I always say research thoroughly and buy the variant which best suits your needs.
There is no difference in quality and all have the usual two year warranty.

If you want something around 500 quid and made in England why not investigate EBAC washing machines!

I was looking at EBACs but at the time they had nothing in stock, so I just took my van to nearest Costco and bought whatever they had in there. It was a Samsung something, which happened to be the last SKU in the warehouse and therefore it was heavily discounted. The machine itself is idiotic (‘please connect me to Internet, otherwise I won’t have any programs’) but it washes pretty well and Costco warranties are second to none.
Oh, and it is made in Poland, apparently.
