squeak is hopefully just a riding up belt on the pulley as above. I have never known any washing machine drum look central if you ( or more likely the user) watch it long and hard enough. Front plate should fit right on centrally- never had an issue.

If the squeeking is not the belt, it may well be the seal if it is either dilapidated or dry; take some silicone with you. The seal is usually easy to push into place with a flat object and the stale of a hammer.

As for the front plate; you could remove the cast weights and tilt the machine backwards. The plate aligns without any problems this way.

Having visited yesterday I found that the squeak was probably the wrong description……although the belt was a LITTLE noisy. everything is fine until the machine gets up to a fast spin at around 9 of the 15 minute spin cycle completed, then it just gets really noisy – it sounds like a dry bearing and there is the slightest bit of “play” in the drum. I will chase up the parts that I ordered last week (Bearings & seals) and report back in a couple of weeks when completed!
Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Are we still talking about the bearing change that you did in early February? If so, and you’ve used the correct bearing, I would say that it is near-on impossible to have a bearing become noisy that quick; unless of course you have nicked/damaged it during fitting.

Same bearing change!! been on holiday and am planning to fit new bearings this week 🙁
Never had bearings this noisy after such a short time before, but this is the first 1607 bearing change for me. I have to say a puller would make it loads easier and the fact that both bearings are the same size doesn’t help when getting the drum back in. -
