Re: 1607w rubber lip thing around door

We’ve just been sticking them back on as it’s normally caused by people dragging heavy laundry in and out. Not had any problem.

Got my first one of these tomorrow, as this machine is only a few months old, do I just refit the seal, can I raise a job sheet for this?

I hear what you say about dragging out heavy loads but TBH I am rather dubious about that as a cause. 😉

As the edge of the inner/outer drum is four or five inches away from the large grey seal I cannot for the life of me see how anyone could do this by dragging the clothes out.

Trust me, they do it. 😉

I would really love to see a practical demonstration of this being done. I don’t think I could do it even if I was deliberately trying to get the seal off that way. 😉

The public constantly amaze me in the imaginative ways that they can break things.

In commercial they are just completely unbelievable let alone imaginative.

I think if that is the cause then its the pulling forward of the drum while removing the clothes that is pushing the seal off rather than any direct contact with the washing load itself.

Well I have tried to pull the drum forward as hard as I could, this only has the effect of pushing the seal tighter on.

I have been to this machine this morning and have my suspicions as to the cause. 😉

Re: 1607w rubber lip thing around door

Well my suspicions proved correct, I had to return to this machine this morning to fit a new gap seal and front panel.

I did not deliver this machine four months ago but I did do the installation and at the time noticed that the front panel seemed to be a fraction away from the detergent compartment when I removed the drawer.
I tried as best I could to push the panel into place at the time.

When I returned a couple of weeks ago to refit the seal I noticed that the lower edge of the grey seal was actually touching the drum front plate, sure enough, two weeks later the seal came off again.

Although it was not easy to see in situ, once the front panel is held at a certain angle it is possible to see that it has sustained transit damage and has been pushed in at the bottom.

Worth checking out if you get a seal adrift problem.

This is the damaged front panel looking down from above, you can just make out where it is bowed in the middle.

The last one I delivered & installed had exactly the same bow in the panel. It looked so uniform I thought it was meant to be there. I will keep your post in mind!

Re: 1607w rubber lip thing around door

After fitting the new front panel there was a gap of about 5mm between the grey seal and drum front, before I fitted it the seal was hard up agaist the drum front.

Re: 1607w rubber lip thing around door

Strangely enough I have just received a service call from well out of my normal area. This customer has had two machines delivered from the same source and both have suffered frontal damage, I have no way of knowing if this is occurring between the main distributor and the local retailer or between the retailer and the customer but it is a cause for concern.

It may be a concern, agreed.

But, there’s not a lot that can be done about it if they’re breaking them other than asking them not to. 🙁

And, this is the first instance that we’ve seen. The machines have been about for almost two years and, that shocked me as well!

Just had one of these seal jobs come in.
Do you advise refitting or replacing the seal.
Oh, Do ISE cover the repair?

    Thanks.

Re: 1607w rubber lip thing around door

    Covered.

Just put it back on with a dod of glue and it’s sorted, that’s the official fix anyways. 😉
