Mike
I would be surprised if the new board was damaged by running it ‘off-load’. However, not knowing how it interconnects with the timer module, I guess I would have to urge some caution. What is the triac switching / controlling?
I don’t recognise the SPOBT number. The alternative way of driving the triac (from the isolation viewpoint) is with a transformer. A few years ago some nifty small pulse transformers were released known as iso-planar transformers. Some ICs included this using thick-film technology. However, I have no idea if this is still in use today.

Brains,
😳 Sad to say I don’t know what the triac is controlling. “A1” goes by a track all the way round the houses to neutral (as in w m’c motor controls) and “A2” to a multi connector which I didn’t trace when I was there! Still methinks it must be the fan as it’s too small(?)(BTB08), and so is the connector, to control an element.Once I get the oven going 😉 I’ll be tempted to send you the old pcb so you can satisfy any remaining curiosity you may have about it.(Have to admit mine is just about exhasted ❗ )
New bit should be here tomorrow.Hope someone’ll be home to sign for it 🙄 .
Will update as and when. Have you noticed the high number of views this is getting? Shouldn’t you be charging for all this training/consultancy?

I’d love to charge for training & consultancy! – about £100 per e-mail 😆
However, with all the help that I get from Dave Conway with part numbers etc, its only fair to try & help others. Besides I think everyone would agree business is tough enough without throwing the extra curves in.
Anyway, good luck with the repair – hope the customer does not give you too much grief.

Got job done at last.
Just have to hold my breath for a year now, ’till my guarantee period is up!
Gave old module a quick try first but it was still dead as a Dodo.
Could find nothing in oven which would explain the original blow up unless it was the oven illumination bulb which was blown and blackened. Could that be possible? As the customer didn’t feel illumination was particularly necessary she agreed it was best not to replace the bulb just in case. Many thanks for all the help/teaching.
