ParticipantHi All,
AEG Competence B1180-1 oven cuts out once hot. Oven fan also stops. When it cools down heat and fan restart but again stops when hot. comes back on. Timer lights remain on.
I haven’t started looking at it yet, first time for everything.
Any help such as parts (visual) and possible location greatly appreciated (haven’t had a roast or grilled sausages in months)
Cheers John

these ovens not only have a fan inside the oven but a cool air fan that blows cold air. you may remember that the fan runs on after the oven cools down
I bet the oven heats up but this cooling fan does not start if so their are 2 likely suspects
1 the fan motor
2 more likely the thermal relayhttps://shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/8996619 … an-control
have changed dozens of these very common fault and a simple fix

according to the simple wiring diag for your oven the clock will stay on
try your oven and see if the cooling fan starts if it does not its prob this unit.

Good man, your diagnosis was spot on. Opened the casing and there was the blown part (blue cover now with smokey black evidence). Spliced the blue wires and voila the cooling fan starts. That’s good news for me a cheap and easy fix, time to order the replacement thermal relay. Once again, cheers Dave your help has been greatly appreciated. All the best, John

Hi,
Picking up in this thread.
I have an AEG 4140 oven that sometimes start up and sometimes not.
The yellow light for the heating mode always works but when I turn the temperature nob the red light for heating doesnt turn on (sporadically.)No fan, no heating but everything else seems fine.
I have read you suggestions but can someone give any insight before I tear it all apart 🙂
Thanks in advance!

Hello,
AEG Competence B4140-1-m
PNC 944 181 761There is also a small “switch” up left that is pressed when you close the oven door.
Is that somehow a safetyswitch that can be the problem or am I way off?Since it works sometimes I believe there to be a glitch somewhere but now I havent got he heat on for about 2 days.
Thx! /Peter

you oven is radically different then the previous one in this post. your oven is totally controlled by an electronic board and I think it may be this that’s causing your problems. It may be as simple as a failing relay but you would have to understand electrics to be able to find this
as a first step I would take the top off and remove and replace all connectors with more than 1 cable (multiconnectors ). things liks this can be as simple as a poor connectionthe door lock assembly in the corner is worth a look have had one fail and I think it stops the oven working

I am pretty good with electrics etc so I will see if I find a burned wire/bad connector etc.
If it is the board I call it a day and buy a new 🙂Thanks for the help! //Peter

Hi,
Sorry I am back maybe wrong thread but since I started here.Owen has worked well several times and usually runs its “cycle”.
Like if it starts and I dont touch it it works till I turn it off. Then maybe next time it will not start att all.
The case is always the same. I turn the left settings dial for grill, hotair etc and when it doesnt start the red heat “indicator” nor the fan/s turn on.If it works it doesnt matter if I open the door or not it will still keep running with red light(heat working) on so door switch not problem.
I have openen it and looked at board and all connectors and they all look good and no wired burned etc. Is there a thermal sensor that could be triggering this weird response. I just want to give it a final go before I give up.
Computer/LCD and all settings for it is working like it should and you cannot find anything strange with it. Time settings , times etc all good. Never turns off or flicker or anything. I get this feeling some kind of sensor is the problem but just a wild guess off course.
But when red light doesnt go on no fans go on. Neither for cooling or inside owen for “hotair” owen effect.
I realize uncontrolled rambling above but trying to put it in words 🙂
Thx in advance. /Peter

could be a faulty switch
selector switch part number 330 16 79-02 / 7
if you turn switch off and on will it start sometimes but not all the time ?
just depends if you want to take a chance as its not the sort of fault you can be sure of a positive outcome

If selector swith is the one choosing which mode it always works (yellow light turns on).
The right temperatur knob doesnt always start when knob is turned to prefered temperature and red light indicating desired heat is not met is not lit as well.
When red light is not on, no heating etc is working.
I tried to find link to the part# you suggest to look at image but so far no luck.Thx /Peter
