Hi, I have a hotpoint aqualtis AQGMD149 and when I switch it on and press start the door locks then nothing happens. After 6mins it displays ATTENTION machine cannot fill with water. And continues to do nothing. After another 4mins it displays the washing machine is blocked and the pump runs and F1 is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

I have checked for water to the machine and the inlet filter is clear.
There was a blockage in the pipe from the sump to the pump which I have removed. The pump housing is also clear. The pipe for the pressure sensor is also clear and the sensor clicks when blown into.

    Has anyone any ideas??
    Many thanks in advance

Spoke to you on the phone earlier I think , 😉 just a thought, what happens if you set it to a spin cycle? When you cleared the blockage did you tilt the machine back, or lie it down in any way?

Display should actually show F01, not F1, is this the case, F01 is a motor triac fault, so could be motor, main pcb or faulty wiring connections.

It won’t spin or dry either.

Yeah I layed it on it’s side.

Yeah I thought the F1 was strange but there’s no zero in it

You should not have laid it down, the pressure switch is very sensitive on these and often needs resetting if you have tilted the machine back or even worse, laid it on its side. Blowing into it can also do damage.
F1 or F01 are both motor/pcb/wiring related faults.

Is there a procedure for re setting the pressure switch? I didn’t realise laying it down could do any harm, but I’ve learned now.

There is procedure, quite involved and it often takes several attempts to clear, TBH should have no bearing on an F1 fault code.

Have you any idea what could cause the F1 error? I have checked all the connections and all seem good. I found the live wire for the dryer heater to have rubbed through but have taped that up.

Take your pick, faulty motor, faulty pcb, poor motor plug connections, (they are very flimsy), a change in the wind, an R in the month. You do have a machine with possibly the most suspect electronics on the market so anything is possible. :rolls:

Is there any way of testing individual components? I’ve tested just about everything for Continuity and nothing seems open circuit but as I have no tolerances to compare with I can’t be sure. Is there any sort of service/diagnostic manual for this model?

I’ve had a look at the motor and all looks well, no smell either. It appears to be brushless? I’m thinking PCB. have you any idea of cost of these?

Re: AQGMD149 can not fill with water

The motor is 3 phase but the connections used in the motor plugs are very flimsy.

The main, power pcb is around £100, however unless you are an Indesit Company engineer or other, authorised agent you will not have the software on your laptop needed to programme the new pcb.

You will need a £16 to £20 smart card and a £100 card reader to programme a new pcb., that’s always assuming that it is faulty in the first place of course.

The parts are covered by a five year warranty, the labour is a bit on the high side though.

I don’t think the machine was registered with hotpoint when it was new so I’m not sure if the parts warranty would stand.

The machine is only 4 years old maximum.

They won’t worry about that with a labour charge of £105 plus the badgering you will get from Domestic & General to take out a service contract. :rolls:

Just tried the machine on with the delay timer set to an hour and after 9 mins it displayed machine blocked. How could it know when it wasn’t meant to be doing anything?
