What a coincidence that my cousin Evren had almost the same problem with his machine! 😉 Just kidding!

We’re not related exept in that we like taking pictures of washing machine innards. I think I know when to throw in the towel where as he never ever gave up. Makes Winston Churchill look soft! Certainly an amusing read though 🙂

In the case of my machine, it the seal that failed and rusted the inner bearing which then damaged the drumshaft and that a new drum would be in order?

I’ll be glad to just scrap the damned thing and get a new machine.

    Cheers,

    Phil

Your third picture shows the worst – the shaft is stepped in and is now undersized where the bearing will sit. It will therefore be loose inside the new bearing, so the seal won’t work.

    Unlucky…….

So I should forget about this machine then?

I imagine the amount of money, time, and effort it would require to replace the drum just isn’t worth it. Looks like we’ll be buying a new machine.

And I thought Ariston go on, and on, and on. Aparently not 😕

Thanks again for all your help.

The advertisers forgot to add the last line,……….on and on, the tip. 😥

Cut and run, if you fit bearings to this they will fail very quickly. I doubt that Martin will make such a generous offer this time around, 😉

The old adage, “you get what you pay for” is as true today as it ever was, particularly in regard to domestic appliances.
