Sorry — just realised that I must have removed the bit when writing my original post where I mentioned that I’m currently living in Australia! :rolls: By local agents, I meant the Australian agent, who told me that the machine’s likely to be 10 to 12 years old.

Have you considered the harness? It’s spent ~ 20 years being jiggled around and an internal wire-break is a distinct possibility…..same happens in the motor-trade,-Central-locking /mirrors/windows…dodgy multipin-connector or broken/chafed/shorted wire….Driver’s door is favourite as it gets most use.
So, try board-connectors,test the harness AND GIVE EACH WIRE A GOOD WIGGLE AND TUG if no joy, consider a local indipendent TV/Electronics repairer…..there are trade firms that will repair boards, you’ll have to google.
IMHO, it’ll be a super machine when running and when it’s eventually dead, you’ll be convinced the ISE is it’s only worthwhile successor.

Even though he would have to relocate to the UK to buy an ISE. 😉

Thanks for the suggestions Steve — I think I’ve found a repairman who reckons he could find a used control board rather than fitting a brand new one. He also reckons the door lock will need replacing too. Although it seems to be working OK, it did seem to be the start of the trouble… 🙁

Blimey! Jim, I’ve turned into a senile old git! 😳
Jumped straight in without bothering to see where the topic originator resides.my excuse….old website had a separate bit at the bottom for furriners.
My No. 1 son is now saving for an ISE dryer to complement his ISE washer when the present dryer croaks.

😀 My fault for the confusion actually, I used this forum a few times before moving to Aus, and started this thread without mentioning my current location. I also only updated my profile location recently.
There is still an Aussie section, but I haven’t had any replies there yet.
