My heart sinks when I walk in and see a Smeg freestanding dishwasher. they have a kick strip that nearly always breaks when removed, usually 3 pcbs in the door as opposed to one a huge weight screwed to the back….. etc.

. And without fail a broken telescopic foot at the rear in the centre on a piece of wood

Fixing an integrated dishwasher isnt an issue, however taking an integrated dishwasher out of the fitted unit can be a whole different ball game especially in Ireland where houses and kitchens where just thrown together back in the boom.

It’s uncanny that you somehow you knew this seemingly simple task would end this way. To think the guy had “spent hours” just trying to get the door boot unlipped before throwing the towel into the ring.

Not to mention the hours he has also spent trying to put four screws back into the hinges, and he claims to have an engineering background. :rolls:

He says he spent a lot of his working life in engineering so I’m guessing he’s retired, seeing out his twilight years in the shadow of Oxford’s dreaming spires ?
At least he’s totally polite with good grammar, unlike the majority of the gimme free advice brigade.

And all you lot can do is take the pi$$,poor old guy, shame on you. 😕

Went to a zanussi machine to fit a door seal a couple years back. He had control panel, complete front and balance weight off and still couldn’t fit the damn thing. He looked on in amazement when I had the seal on in about a minute, although took another 20 to put it all back together. He was even more gutted when I told him it can be done easily just from the door

I’ve no problems with the machines just customers. I once went to a Bosch washing machine and could get the drain pump to work. I removed the drain pump and low and behold there was a condom wrapped around the pump. I showed this to the woman of the house who asked me who it belonged too? I quickly replied that it definitely wasn’t mine! She said well we don’t use them. The husband was washing up at the sink with a very sheepish look on his face. She wasn’t best pleased and I made a fast getaway after being cashed up.

Yuk. hope you scrubbed your hands ! Surprising amount of people dont believe it when you present a basin’s worth of pump / sump hose findings beneath their snouts.
‘Well that’s not mine, I dont keep coins or XYZ in my pockets !’

Truly bizarre, they must think we keep handfuls of skanky coins and used johnnys on hand just to make a job out of it 😕

…..and they sit on shiny ceramic tiles, the hoses neatly lying alongside. Just pop off the plinth, two screws at the top and s-l-i- d-e them out…!

Yes give me integrated any day 😉

Ha, if only..round here that applies less than 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time. 😥

Worth the pain though. Thank goodness for integrated appliances. Plus you can still make a double labour on new ones!

Just had a call from a customer, I fitted an inner door glass on a beko early 2014, she’s managed to break it again and was wondering if it’s still under warrant. Nearly burst out laughing on the phone

Do the job, then give him your bill… Once he has paid, tell him it would have cost him half the price if he hadn’t dismantled the door.

I wish it was always a case of “pop off the plinth”- sometimes getting the plinths off around here is the worst part of the job.
They mastic them in, use concealed screws, make them too ruddy tight, usually have to remove more than 1 to get the one we want off .I rarely come across a plinth that pops off, must be paradise around your way Martin.
