if you pull the plug out and its still filling then the only thing it can be is the valve. turn the tap feeding it off should stop it while your waiting for the new part

Thanks for the confirmation. I’ve ordered the part you linked to and I’ll update when fitted. Hopefully that will be an end to the problems for now, and another skill learnt!
