ParticipantHi guys,
I have a Beko WMB10W which has started making a really loud banging noise when it is spinning. It only happens with washing in the machine as I’ve tried it empty and everything is fine.
I’ve had the covers off and all the concrete blocks appear to be intact and still securely attached.
I’ve been assured that it is not being overloaded with washing :rolls: so I was wondering, Is it possible for the suspension units that look like little shock absorbers that are attached to the bottom of the drum to lose their stiffness or damping as this is the only thing I can think of. Do these wear out? Is it a common problem with this machine? or is it likely to be something totally different? Thanks for your help

Possibly drum support failure? Open the door, turn the drum to bring a paddle to the six o’clock position and then try and pull it towards you. Do each in turn. If the lip of the drum moves in relation to the inner lip of the door seal, an arm of the support may well have broken.

Thanks for the reply, I’ll give it a try and see what happens. If that seems O.K. is there anything else that it may be?
Cheers

To test the shock absorbers you need to push the drum downwards and some damping resistence should be felt. If the drum just bounces back easily then the shockers are duff! 🙁
:zap: POWER OFF BEFORE INVESTIGATING!!! :zap:

Thanks Martin, That was kind of what was happening which made me think they might be knackered, but I didn’t check to see if the drum support was broken. I hope it’s the shockers as the drum support comes with the inner drum and costs £63.00 😯 !!
Cheers

erm, well actually.. a common problem with those machines is the heater bracket working loose, so the heater bangs on the drum through centrifugal force.. a quick check is to pull the heater out, and physically look inside to see if theres a support bracket there, easily fitted, easily cured.. always worth checking, cos ith can be costly otherwise.. oh and check the heater itself for signs of the drum catching it
thanx

Oh yes? Refitting a heater is far from easy and not to be recommended!

ah yes, thanx for your critcism, and managing to pick up on something i didnt actually write, i didnt say anything about refitting the heater.. what i actually mentioned was the heater bracket, a far simpler job than fitting drums and bearings. i agree heaters can be tricky to refit, and yes the power should always be off, simple safety should always be paramount. i was only trying to help
thanx 🙁

Penguin and Martin weren’t having a dig helo, just filling in the gaps. We don’t get all huffy on here and they often put me right as well, so don’t worry about it. 😉

Carry on regardless, the rest of us do. Even when we do get hassled by some people. 😉
