ParticipantSudden onset failure of machine to show programme data as dial is turned, save for two wash settings. Machine does not start to run on any of the selections. Main Module pcb looked sooty, especially around one particular microchip; but when soot removed, no distortion or damage is visible. Rest of machine looks fine. Is it worth investing in a new module? Bought second hand, but trying to be green, so don’t want to give up too easily and the machine was running perfectly until it wasn’t.

ParticipantHi Dave,
Down to one programme, and almost certainly the last one used – mixed fabrics, 40°C, 1000 spin; could even be the ONLY programme ever used in our household!
Regards.

ParticipantHi Dave,
That would explain everything and was not a function I was aware of; the machine did not come with the manual and I neglected to download it. I will check that as soon as I get home.
Thanks.

ParticipantHi Dave,
Just checked the machine and, unfortunately, the child lock was not on, but it can still be activated and deactivated on any of the programme selections.
Regards.

ParticipantWill do, but it might take me a couple of days to get round to it. Thanks for this advice.

ParticipantWhilst I get round to tracing the wires, this is what I see when I turn it on. The yellow arrowhead flashes “ready” on all of the settings, it just was not captured in the second photo; pressing “start” has no effect. As you turn the selector, absolutely nothing happens (arrowhead is blinking) until you reach Mixed Fabrics, when those numbers appear.

Moderatorpress and hold start button as if your cancelling the programme
see if that does anything
the selector or the wires too it could be faulty

ParticipantUnplugging, then replugging plus cancel button makes no difference.
How does the motor contacts affect the programme function?May 2, 2024 at 9:28 pm #490233Aortic Mark
ParticipantAre the brushes accessible with the motor left in situ?

Moderatortilt the machine back 45 degrees against a wall or similar and climb underneath
on some machines unit wont function if brushes lose contact with armature
