Beko ODF22300X double oven – top oven/grill not working

Hope someone can help – top oven & grill not working (bottom oven fine), fan comes on but no light or heat, multimeter shows continuity to both switches.

think there is a thermal cutout on this unit. have you check live is getting to the switches

Thanks Dave, Yes Live is getting to/from the switches but it seems no power is getting to the element.

there is not much it can be

thermal cutout ( if fitted) Diagram show 2 of them you need to trace wires and find them. both of them are on the live wire

thermostat

the switch is most likely but so is cutouts

We’ve tried again today and both cut outs / switches have live & continuity but the problem persists – fan comes on but no light or heat!

You may well be missing the Neutral as opposed to the Live feed, we don’t encourage Live testing but as you already seem to be doing it. Do you have 240v across the element terminals ?.

Yeah we have 240v across the terminals, as well as the light not coming on inside the oven the small thermostat indicator on the front control panel doesn’t illuminate either, only thing that works in top oven is the fan

if you have 240 v across the element terminals and the element is ok, it will get hot so something cant be correct

As Dave said above, if you actually have 240v at the element and a good Element then it has to heat. What are you using to check the 240v ? A multimeter or just a mainstester screwdriver ?.

Thanks for your reply, we’re using a multimeter & getting 240v, if the element wasn’t ok would that also explain why the oven lights (both int & ext ) don’t come on but the fan does?

Let’s forget the light for a minute. With the power off, remove the connection from one side of the element. Now with your multimeter set to read resistance, place the probes across the element terminals. Your meter should normally read between 25 to 50 Ohms for a good element.

Really appreciate all your help, tried again today – even used a different multimeter and we’re still getting the same results..

As above removed one side of element set meter to continuity and got a good reading 39, tried the lower element of the top oven as well and got a reading of 48 – even removed both elements and tested them and got the same readings.

Also did a live test on thermo cut outs & getting 240, switches seem fine as we don’t get 240 until we knock the switches on, just can’t understand how we can be getting power to the elements (grill and bottom element) in top oven and no heat / light etc, only thing we get is the fan on, yet everything works fine in the bottom oven!

Anyway thanks again for all your input, I think it’s time to call out professional help..or buy a new oven!

Maybe a daft question but when voltage testing are the wires still connected to the element ?, If voltage testing with the wires disconnected you could be reading ghost voltages. To get accurate readings the wires need to be connected to the element so that they’re under load.

so the first question is how are you using the multimeter.

across the element one lead on each side

or 1 lead to earth and the other to check the element connections ?

So I’ll be honest, I started this thread about 4 months ago and pretty much gave up hope of fixing the top oven..now I have a lot of time on my hands (!)and thought I’d try again – just in case the bottom oven goes and then we’re screwed!

Problem as above, no heat in top oven, fan comes on but noting else.

I had a friend round last time who was doing the testing, I don’t have that assistance now and I’m starting from scratch with testing with a multimeter and knowledge gained from watching youtube vids..(!) .so please bear with me!

The element has 4 prongs at the rear of oven – 2 on left have one green cable, and 2 to the right have a black/white cable and a red cable, I attached the multimeter to the green cable connector on left and red cable connector on right and got a reading of 47.8.
